The issue that inspired the cartoon is the war that the United States and Great Britain were fighting together. The objects in picture are the flags of the U.S. and Britain, the oil wells, and the word "Crude" written with oil leaking. The artistic techniques used in the picture are the flags, uniforms, and oil wells. Three things that I can infer from the picture is they are fighting together for oil. Reality is crude. The man is getting hurt, and losing his life fighting for the oil. People that would agree with the message of the picture are the soldiers actually fighting the war. The artist's point of view is against the fight because the artist let the people know that it is crude to do the things they are doing. The picture is persuasive because it shows a certain point of view that the artist feels other people should know.
